Women's Health And Counseling Center Honors Nationally Renown Dr. Donnica Moore At Gala

2002 Imperial Ball Raises to New Heights as Celebrated Women's Health Expert Chosen As Honoree for Fundraising Gala

Somerville, NJ (October 21, 2002) - Call it "women's intuition." The Women's Health and Counseling Center (WHCC) has achieved new heights with their prestigious and irreplaceable choice of Dr. Donnica Moore as Honoree for the organization's 2002 Imperial Ball, to be held on Saturday, November 9, 2002 at the Bridgewater Marriot in Bridgewater NJ. The 29-year-old Somerset County-based non-profit is dedicated to providing healthcare to women with barriers to traditional healthcare.

Executive Director Carmita M. Padilla and Co-Chair Vivian Ahrens announced the selection of Dr. Moore in recognition of her longstanding role as a champion of women's health. WHCC Executive Carmita M. Padilla enthused, "Women's Health and Counseling Center has an awesome responsibility to bring healthcare to thousands of women who are outside the network of traditional medicine. One of the most significant reasons we are delighted to honor Dr. Moore and eager to embrace her as our treasured representative for Women's Health and Counseling Center is that she is profoundly aware of the special healthcare needs of women. As a national advocate for women's health, she has emphasized the imperative of providing prompt and adequate primary healthcare to all. We are ecstatic to have Dr. Donnica as our celebrated guest and dear friend, and we cannot wait to share her with our esteemed guests on November 9."

Dr. Moore is a popular speaker for both medical and consumer audiences on topics related to women's health, drug development, balancing work and family, and also serves as a physician educator and media commentator. She is well known for her engaging and entertaining style which she refers to as "Medicine Lite": using humor as the spoonful of sugar that helps the medicine go down. She has addressed numerous women's fairs, employee groups, consumer, professional associations, and medical organizations. She is a founding co-chair of the annual national Congress on Women's Health, now in its 10th year.

How the 2002 Imperial Ball Saves Lives

The funds generated by more than 300 guests attending The Imperial Ball directly benefit those served by WHCC. This year, prominent corporate benefactors including Merck & Co., Inc., Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical Inc., Pharmacia and other distinguished corporations will join philanthropic individuals, business leaders and the social cadre of Somerset County to make a difference. WHCC is committed to its mission to provide high-quality, low-cost health care, health education and sexual assault support services to women in need. The range of compassionate and high-quality medical services includes such essential components as primary care services, cancer education and early detection, family planning, and sexual assault support services.

The 2002 Imperial Ball will be at the Bridgewater Marriot, Bridgewater, NJ and promises to be an extraordinary and unforgettable night. The evening's theme "Year of the Woman," which is conceived and executed by chair Vivian Ahrens, plays on the intricate balances of feminity and power. Relying on an Asian-inspired ambiance, Mrs. Ahrens has again achieved a signature event which marvelously mixes the beauty, rarity and allure of Asia with the natural grace, strength, leadership qualities and magnetism of today's most powerful, global female role models. Fusing together the Eastern philosophies of mysticism with the timeless powers of femininity, the 2002 WHCC "Year of the Woman" ball is bound to touch the spirit of all who attend.

In grand style, guests will dance the night away to the exquisite compositions of the Peter Duchin Orchestra. The gala's breath-taking décor and epicurean delights are expected to draw the attention and admiration of all, and this years' silent auction will be particularly exciting this year, with unique and valuable items from the arts, fine dining, travel and entertainment realms.
