Interstitial Cystitis and Pepsi

Q: I have had interstitial cystitis forever and I drink a lot of Pepsi. I wanted to know if that has something to do with my frequent urination?

Dr. Donnica: It might. Pepsi contains a fair amount of caffeine (a known bladder irritant) and sugar. Plus, you're probably not drinking enough water. The best thing to do would be to eliminate the Pepsi, and all other caffeinated beverages, for a week and see if you note any improvement.
