Nausea in the Morning as a Sign of Pregnancy

Q: I'm having morning sickness, feeling tired all the time, running to the bathroom a lot and the smell of things are making me sick. Is that a sign of being pregnant?

--H.E.

Dr. Donnica: Those are pretty classic symptoms! Of course, the most common symptom is being late for your period. Other symptoms may include breast swelling or tenderness. Rather than wondering, you should take a urine pregnancy test, which you can purchase at any drug store and even most grocery stores. They are very reliable so long as you follow the directions. And, if it is positive, please schedule your first prenatal appointment with an obstetrician as soon as possible.
